Basel ,why am i fascinated with that place ......
As a french major if i visit europe people will think that Paris is my dream place .... Well Paris is really beautiful but i heard a lot of complaints with the snobbish and racist attitude of Parsians ,thats why i would really prefer Geneva ,since it is also a french speaking city and we have friends there ,well why talk about Basel . A friend of my Father work in BIS (Bank of International Settlements) ,his 1st assignment was Basel and now his based in HK ,so i kinda google the place and i was fascinated how beautiful the city is . I guess someday i'll go there

First Activity
1st blog entry
Hallo ,ich heissen Ludvig ,perhaps the only German phrase that I can really say as of now .Anyway ,being myself once more ,indeed being irresponsible . I have forgotten to make the deadline for the completion of the first part of my portfolio .To begin with since this is my first part ,perhaps I can make a simple introduction upon my knowledge in the German language and culture . As a world war 2 history lover and a former student of international relations , two ideas always come to my mind about Germany .First the Nazi’s , I remember that when I use to study international relations at CSB ,one of my teacher assigned us to read some passages of “Hitler’s Mein Kampf” in English and after that I just realized how crazy ,evil and delusional that person was. Crazy in a sense that his obsession with his evil plan started just because some Art school did not accept him ,but he was actually a good artist ,after seeing one of his painitings in the passage .But my teacher was also crazy ,somehow he does sympathize with the idea’s of Hitler ,well I didn’t want to criticize him, for I was conscious of getting a high grade .But perhaps if Hitler would have been accepted in Art school then history would not be the same ,just like they say in Latin ,Ars longa vita brevis or Art is immortal even though life is short, people kill to for that stuff ,oopss sorry moving on . Second idea , The Wall ,not the song of Pink Floyd but the Berlin Wall , I always associate Germany with East and West but in a positive way , I find it brilliant how they managed to get well since they use to be the sick man of Europe .
Enough stereotyping moving on to the goal of this entry ,the question is what strategies would you apply in learning the language . One of the main strategy that I want to apply is trying to understand the language by heart just like what the French say “par Coeur “.In a sense of not translating word by word but by getting the meaning of something in its own kind .It is difficult but useful .I remember at the first day of class when Frau Arroyo told us that here were not spend our time conjugating verb or memorizing but perhaps what she mean is that trying to think like a German and that is learning by heart .Another strategy that I’ll apply is being practical ,since German is not my major neither minor ,if ever I am going to try to remember something ,would be the most useful in the future ,it would be a probability that I have to use my knowledge of this language sometime in the future . Lastly would be to have fun ,it seems that my perception of German as being the opposite of the Romance Language is completely false .It has been a week since were studying the language and German might require to have a stronger accent but I find as a beautiful language ,it reminds of ancient English just before being influence by French ,how cool is that , Uber cool .
